Lars Von Trier Film

Lars von Trier is considered as another master director following Bille August in Denmark, who makes great contribution to the world moviedom. He combines the European art style and thoughts together, and blends them into his movie. From each movie of Trier's, you can find his concern to the reality problems and individuals. As a leader of Denmark film, his name is in connection with "Dogma95" rules tightly. In 1995, Dogma movie team, represented by Lars von Trier, published the "Dogma95" rules, which shocked the whole world. The main aim of this rules is against Hollywood film's techniques, paying the main point to the main characters and the stories. Trier's movies, not only express the realism style that required by "Dogma95" rules, but also the increasingly changed style.The whole text is combined by these three parts: preface, text and conclusion. In the preface, there is a brief introduction about Lars von Trier's experience and contribution to film industry, as well as current home and abroad research and this article's research methodology. There are three parts of the text. In chapter one, I analyze the main character of the movies, which are strangers, through the experience of Lars von Trier and Dogma movie group. In chapter two, I analyze Trier's movie theme, through the true historical and modern situation of European and America, and also pointing Trier's criticize on all kinds of problems during the process of civilization, and Trier's objective expression on complex human nature. In chapter three, I illustrate "Dogma95" rules' criticism on Hollywood films, and discuses two most predominant characteristics in Lars von Trier's film: formalism style and realism style, and his plentiful and multivariate narrative style. Final part is a conclusion of the article, pointing out Lars von Trier is a great director who challenging and transcending himself continually.
