Autonomous learning is a new form of learning and the theme of education today.Secondary vocational English is a necessary subject in secondary vocational school.Reading comprehension in English is an important part of English learning.In view of the specificity of secondary vocational students,I combined the autonomous learning ability of secondary vocational students with English reading comprehension.Questionnaires and experiments were used to explore the influence of vocational students on English reading comprehension at different levels of autonomy.The research includes two parts.The first study adopts the questionnaire method to investigate 300 students in Fujian Province posts and telecommunications school.The study analyzed demographic variables and track their mid-term grades.And then predict the current status and level of autonomous English learning of vocational students.At the same time,30 subjects with an average score of more than 7 was defined as the high level of autonomy group and 30 subjects with an average score of less than 4 was defined as the low level of autonomy group.In the second study,eye movement technology was adopted to conduct eye movement experiment for English reading comprehension among60 subjects selected from the first study,and then compare the effects of high and low autonomy level on English reading comprehension correct rate and reaction time with eye movement difference.The experiment adopted a between-subject design.The result showed that:(1)Secondary vocational students’ English autonomous learning ability is not high at large.Fathers educational degree has significant influence on autonomy level of secondary vocational students.English autonomous learning ability of secondary vocational school students and each dimension had significant positive correlation with academic record.The English autonomous learning ability of secondary vocational school students has a significant positive predictive effect on academic record.(2)English reading comprehension correct rate and reaction time are affected by different autonomy levels.The total fixation time,fixation times and first reading time of secondary vocational students with high autonomy were significantly higher than those with low autonomy,and the average pupil size of secondary vocational students with high autonomy was significantly higher than that of secondary vocational students with low autonomy.On the basis of data analysis and discussion,the author puts forward some suggestions for teachers and related educators to improve the teaching effect.
