Analysis Of Tea Industry In Anhui Province In The Republic Of China

Anhui Province is located in the southeast of China,which is in the transition zone between subtropical zone and warm temperate zone.Its climate,environment and soil conditions are suitable for tea cultivation and production.West and South Anhui are the main production areas of Anhui tea.The mountainous geographical environment makes tea become the main cash crop in rural areas.Through the development and exploration of the tea farmers in the past generations,the Qimen Black Tea,Lu ’an Guapian,Huoshan Huangya and other well-known tea varieties have been cultivated,which have aroused strong response in the domestic and foreign markets and produced numerous groups that depend on the tea industry for survival.In 1876,Wuhu became a trading port,and the western economic forces began to penetrate into the original natural economic system of Anhui.Anhui tea industry from the production,transportation,processing and marketing and many other production links have started a long and tortuous transformation of modernization.During the period of the Republic of China,Anhui was more closely connected with the international market.Under the impact of the West,the development of the tea industry mainly experienced the abnormal boom period,decline period and bankruptcy period.The decline of tea industry economy is mainly caused by both domestic and external factors.First of all,during the Republic of China,frequent regime changes and frequent wars and disasters resulted in the lack of a stable and sustainable development environment for the tea industry economy.The feudal and backward nature of tea production has also become the shackles of the development of Anhui tea industry.Second,high-quality tea from India,Ceylon,Java,Japan,Chinese Taiwan and other countries or regions has eroded the living space of Anhui native tea.In the early 1930 s,the great economic crisis of the capitalist world began to affect China,and Anhui tea was struggling in the international market.In the face of this unfavorable situation,the Chinese government also realized the seriousness of the problem and took a lot of measures in an attempt to save the declining economy of Anhui tea industry.For example,it has successively established tea industry improvement field,implemented the policy of tea control and unified marketing,and established China tea company.The implementation of these measures,to a great extent,promoted the recovery of Anhui tea industry economy,played a certain positive role in a short period of time.However,China in the period of the Republic of China was still a semi-colonial and semi-feudal country,and the drawbacks of tea economy itself still existed.Most of the reform measures were mere formality and did not really safeguard the fundamental interests of the lowest tea growers,so the development of Anhui tea industry in the Republic of China was still in a difficult and painful way.Based on the dual logic of history and reality,the study of Anhui tea industry economy in the Republic of China can provide some enlightenment for the development of Anhui tea industry.
