A Study On The Land And Water Murals Of The Grand Hero Hall Of Zhaohua Temple In Huaian County,Hebei Province

The religious land and water ceremonies that prevailed in the Yuan,Ming and Qing dynasties are an inevitable religious product under the historical and social background.Among them,water and land paintings must be enshrined in the water and land temples,and they are also indispensable important holy objects in the puja.As an important form of expression under the religious art system,water and land painting mainly depicts the characters of immortals,Buddhas,ghosts and gods,and an artistic creation system that integrates the themes of Confucianism,Buddhism and Taoism.There is a late Ming Dynasty water and land mural in the Daxiong Hall of Zhaohua Temple,Huai’an County,Hebei.The mural has a strong style,elegant and super dusty characters,and a dignified manner.It is relatively well preserved and has high artistic and historical value.It is an ancient Chinese religious art.An important representative of culture.The research object of this article is the water and land murals of the Great Hall of the Great Heroes of Zhaohua Temple in Huaian County,Hebei Province.This article first briefly discusses the drawing date,image content,and overall layout of the water and land murals in the Great Hall of Zhaohua Temple.Secondly,through combing and examining the rituals corresponding to the water and land murals of Zhaohua Temple,the research is based on rituals and iconography.The method focuses on the analysis and textual research on the content of the untitled images on the north wall,and interprets the title,identity and rituals of the murals on the east,west and south walls,and explores the historical,cultural and religious beliefs of the water and land murals.Through the analysis of the artistic style of the water and land murals in Zhaohua Temple,a detailed analysis of the characteristics of the composition,lines,and colors at the artistic perspective level reveals the unique artistic and religious values of the water and land murals in Zhaohua Temple.Finally,it discusses the religious thoughts and social functions of the land and water murals in the Great Hall of Zhaohua Temple,so as to reflect the religious connotation of the "three religions in one" of the water and land murals in Zhaohua Temple.
