| Iron is a common used tool in life,it has been widely spread as a handful tool for a long time over a wide area.Iron has played a quite important role in our daily life ever since the ancient times.The most direct function of the iron is to help people to iron out the wrinkles in the clothes,therefore the clothes will be smooth and tidy so as to present a better appearance of manner.The reason of choosing iron as the object of this thesis is not only a small piece of iron can reflect the people’s daily life style at the time,it can also reflects the certain changes of the different social class that use iron in different era and the changes in clothing materials,social aesthetic and forging process.This thesis has present a detailed classification and study of the different amount,materials,forms,decorative design and functions of iron in different period with means including historical philology study,chart analysis and statistical methods which based on widely collected information of iron in the particular period from the Dynasty of Han to the Dynasty of Tang.First,this thesis explains the origin of iron according to the parts that includes iron in multiple kinds of ancient documents and explores the rise and development of iron in social life of different period of time by studying different examples of iron which made of different materials.Secondly,by the statistical information of the unearthed iron of the period between Han and Tang,this thesis analyses distribution of different materials of iron and different period and tombs that iron was spotted.Especially focused on the classification of the unearthed irons’ different types of decorative design and different forms of iron.Finally,on the basis of literature records and results of academic research,this thesis gives a brief analysis of the functions of the iron.Current academic research on the topic of iron is incomplete in systematic sorting and studying,while in this thesis the origin and development of iron and the classification of the forms,decorative design and functions of iron will be discussed with the comprehensive statistics of unearthed iron of the period between Han and Tang Dynasties.To a certain extent,this thesis has made up for the incomplete study of iron of time between Han and Tang. |
