As an extremely important writer in the history of modern Chinese literature,Mao Dun has a high literary status,great literary achievements,and quite unique academic research value.At present,the academic research on Mao Dun is relatively comprehensive and in-depth,and the results obtained are also impressive.However,with the continuous development of research on historical materials of modern Chinese literature in recent years,and the extensive use of philology research methods,research on historical materials and philology has gradually become an important aspect of the study of modern Chinese literature.And Mao Dun’s research also conformed to this overall research trend and turned to the study of Mao Dun’s letters.At present,most of the academic research on modern writers’ letters is focused on discovering and studying lost letters.As far as the research on Mao Dun’s letters is concerned,most academic circles have never included the lost letters in "The Complete Works of Mao Dun".The letter of Mao Dun,which has not yet been made public,is the object of interpretation,and relevant and specific expositions are made according to the specific content of the letter.Or a certain letter from Mao Dun was used as a supporting evidence to participate in literary research,directly or indirectly proving a certain point of view.In fact,this kind of research can only conduct a partial and one-sided study of Mao Dun,and cannot make a comprehensive judgment and evaluation of Mao Dun.This article focuses on the systematic research of Mao Dun’s letters,and devotes itself to exploring the important literary issues displayed in Mao Dun’s letters,discovering the unique functions of Mao Dun’s letters,and presenting Mao Dun’s comprehensiveness.Complex image.Strive to reconstruct the historical scene with solid Mao Dun’s letters,restore historical facts,and comprehensively and objectively present Mao Dun’s literary thoughts,literary life,and literary image.The main body of the thesis consists of four chapters: The first chapter systematically discusses the existing Mao Dun letters from the May Fourth period,the Leftist League,the Anti-Japanese War and the post-war period,and forms a comprehensive understanding of Mao Dun’s letters as a whole.Overall grasp.The second chapter divides the existing and public letters of Mao Dun from 1919 to 1949 into theoretical letters and ordinary letters.And through the systematic sorting and analysis of these two types of Mao Dun’s letters,four hot issues were discovered: the confrontation between the old and the new literature,the discussion about popular literature,the concept of translated literature,and the editing issues in modern newspapers.The third chapter takes Mao Dun’s letters as a model,analyzes and discusses the functions of the letters,and explores the significance and value of Mao Dun’s letters in four aspects: combing interpersonal connections,carrying out literary criticism,supporting newcomers in the literary world,and restoring the historical scene.The fourth chapter is the discovery of two "Mao Dun" from a huge number of letters.One is Mao Dun in the "cultural world".He has multiple identities such as a writer,editor,critic and translator.He plays an important role in the exchange of old and new cultures,discussions of popular literature,translation of literature,and editing of modern newspapers.Plays an important role.The other is Mao Dun,who is in the "mortal world".He wanders in real life as a son,husband,father and friend.Like ordinary people,he handles household chores,tells his children to be warm and cold,and misses tea,rice,oil,salt,sauce and vinegar tea.Mao Dun’s letters not only vividly reproduce Mao Dun’s literary life and family life,but also let us see a vivid and vivid Mao Dun.
