Proverb, as a special literature form, is passed down by oral or written means. There are a wealth of Mongolian traditional proverbs recorded in Mongolian literatures such as The Secret History of Mongolia and A Brief Mongolian History of Lobsen. This paper mainly studies the proverbs recorded in The Secret History of Mongolia and A Brief Mongolian History of Lobsen and tries to demonstrate how those proverbs reflect traditional cultural characteristics of Mongol nationality.The paper is composed of fours parts:Introduction, Main Body, Conclusion and References. Introduction mainly presents the significance of the topic, its research state home and abroad and research methods and approaches. The Chapter One of the main body probes into the unique perspectives the Mongolians take in examining the reality and their reviews toward reality by analyzing some Mongolian proverbs. The Chapter Two also carries out in-depth analysis on certain Mongolian proverbs so as to study the distinct ways of thinking of the Mongolians and approaches they prefer in dealing with reality as well as real objects and matters. The Chapter Three elaborates on the characteristics of nomadic culture and aesthetic ideal of Mongolian people as they are embodied in those traditional Mongolian proverbs.Then, the paper comes to the conclusion part and states that through the close study of traditional Mongolian proverbs it is clear that the unique cultural traits of Mongolian people in perceiving and dealing with reality finds their roots in the nomadic culture. And as the products and highlights of Mongolian people’s spirit, traditional proverbs fully embody the peculiar and unique appreciation of beauty in Mongolian nomadic culture.
