A Study On The Metazoan Images Of Dunhuang Mogao Grottoes

"Huasheng" is a kind of method of "living without support".It is an advanced way of birth and an important concept of Buddhism.In many Buddhist arts,we can see the shadow of the concept of Huasheng,such as the Huasheng tiles unearthed from temples in Xinjiang and Luoyang,the Huasheng earrings and silk fabrics with Huasheng patterns unearthed from Inner Mongolia and Xixia,and the Huasheng images in the murals of tombs in the Southern Dynasties.The Mogao Grottoes in Dunhuang,as a treasure of Buddhist art,are the most abundant area of Huasheng images.In this paper,the first chapter will sort out the topic selection basis and research status of the paper.The second chapter will make a systematic explanation of "Huasheng",clarify the concept of Huasheng and the records of Huasheng in Buddhist classics,and make a source study of Huasheng images to define the Huasheng images in Mogao Grottoes.The third chapter will classify the metazoan images of the Mogao Grottoes into head type,half body type and whole body type according to the body shape.In the development of the Mogao Grottoes for nearly a thousand years,it is not only restricted by the thought of "Huasheng",but also integrated with culture and folk customs,developing different characteristics of the times.Therefore,the fourth chapter of this paper is to do a detailed research on the historical evolution of metazoan images,and integrate them systematically according to the age,data sources,image features and types.This paper focuses on the analysis of the causes and influencing factors of the transformation of the characteristics of the image,compares and analyzes the modeling,color,location and other elements of the image,and summarizes the style of the image in each era.As the visualization of "Hua Sheng" thought,the image features of Hua Sheng image are always influenced by the thought.Therefore,the fifth chapter will analyze the constituent elements of the image,and understand the differentiation processing of the image affected by the concept of "nine grades of Huasheng".These differentiation elements are not only the important characteristics of expressing the hierarchical view of the image,but also the important content of the image.Through the systematic study of the Huasheng images in Mogao Grottoes,we can present the artistic style changes of Huasheng images,and reflect the multiple influences of the times,folk customs,religion and culture.In depth understanding of the religious origin and characteristics of Huasheng images will help us to understand the basic connotation of Huasheng images and further study the mural art of Mogao Grottoes.
