| Visvantara Jataka is one of Sakyamuni Buddha’s experiences in a past life.It describes a story of Visvantara submission which is undesirable.This is an important content of Buddhist art research.Cave 42 8 in Mogao Grottoes is the largest central pillar cave in Northern Zhou Dynasty,and the story of Visvantara Jataka depicted on the east wall is also the largest Bunsen mural in the Mogao Grottoes.The article takes the story map of the Visvantara Jataka in Cave 428 as the research object,starting from the content of the story itself and gradually analyzing it from small to large.Through the comprehensive exploration of the content and plot,artistic characteristics,painting and painting combination and the background of The Times,this article comprehensively grasps this important art work in the Dunhuang grottots.Firstly,starting from the content and connotation of the story,the plot of " Visvantara takes Mandi as his wife" at the beginning and "the king sends envoys to welcome the crown prince" at the end is further analyzed.Further,through analyzing the artistic features in Visvantara Jataka story diagram,we draw six conclusions: The choice and addition of plot are related to the conflict between Confucianism and Buddhism;The clothing of the characters shows the characteristic of blending the styles of the Hu and Han ethnic groups;The dynamics of characters can be divided into two types;quiet and active,and the idea of protecting the Dharma can be seen in etiquette;The background in the story painting gradually becomes realistic;The image position has a guiding effect on visual effects.Later will have to Visvantara Jataka story linked to other painting plastic grottoes,analyzes its contains the image to give the corresponding ideas and method of China,and combined with Buddha preached,painted sculpture Buddha thought.Finally,this paper analyzes the origin of artistic features in Sudana Natal storybooks in Cave 428 from two aspects: Firstly,based on the background of the identity of the cave owner and ruler,it can be inferred that the clothing ofthe Hu ethnic group in the picture is influenced by their Xianbei ethnic identity;Secondly,due to the Buddhistand Taoist debates at that time and the Zhou Wu extermination of Buddhism,it was necessary to have a relatively gentle story of "external alms" such as that of the Visvantara Jataka to alleviate the contradiction between "Confucianism" and "Buddhism",and to use its educational role to help raise more funds for the construction of grottoes.Therefore,the storyline of the 428 th cave’s Visvantara Jataka not only has unique artistic value,but also has a positive impact on the continuation ofthe Northern Zhou grottoes. |
