As a special kind of adverbs in modern Chinese,modal adverbs have complicated usage.In this paper,modal adverbs of "Indeed" categoryare taken as the research objects,and are compared and analyzed from three aspects of semantics,syntax and pragmatic functions.It also searches and analyzes the corpus in Beijing Language and Culture University HSK Dynamic Composition Corpus and Jinan University Interlanguage Corpus,summarizes the errors of foreign students about the modal adverbs of "Indeed" category,and then sums up the types and causes of errors,and puts forward corresponding teaching suggestions and teaching schemes according to ontology research and errors.The full text is divided into five parts:The first part is the introduction,Firstly,it introduces the reason of choosing the topic,Secondly,we summarize the research statusof modal adverbs of "Indeed" category from two aspects: ontology research and teaching research,Then,we elaborate the research content and significance,Finally,we explain the research methods and corpus sources used in this paper.In the second part,based on the previous research results,we compare and analyze the modal adverbs of "Indeed" category from three aspects: semantics,syntax and pragmatics,and explore their commonness and individuality,combining with the relevant example sentences in CCL corpus of Peking University,BCC corpus of Beijing Language and Culture University and Modern Chinese corpus of National Language Commission.In the third part,based on HSK Dynamic Composition Corpus and Jinan University Interlanguage Corpus,we sum up the error types of foreign students’ acquisition of modal adverbs of "Indeed" category,including misgeneration,misaddition,omission and wrong order.Then,combined with ontology research,this paper explores the causes of errors,and draws the conclusion that unclear semantic features,unfamiliar syntactic positions and unclear pragmatic functions are the causes of errors in students’ acquisition of modal adverbs of "Indeed" category.In the fourth part,we put forward some diversified and targeted teaching strategies based on ontology research and the causes of errors.From the perspective of students,this paper puts forward two suggestions: attaching importance to word ontology learning and attaching importance to comparative learning;From the perspective of teaching materials,this paper puts forward three suggestions: more scientific annotation of new words,listing typical examples and arranging synonym discrimination exercises;From the perspective of teachers,this paper puts forward four suggestions: paying attention to semantic teaching,teaching with context,organizing teaching based on comparative analysis and strengthening the reappearance of synonyms.Finally,on this basis,we give the teaching design of modal adverbs of "Indeed" category,hoping to help foreign students better acquire modal adverbs of "Indeed" category.The fifth part summarizes the full text,and makes a brief explanation on the viewpoints and shortcomings of this article.
