Research On Chiang Yee’s Color Illustration

As an internationally renowned cultural celebrity,Chiang Yee has been living abroad for half of his life and has traveled all over the world to spread Chinese culture.The series of paintings created by him with the unique style of poetry,calligraphy and painting have a strong repercussion abroad.At present,the existing academic research on him mainly focuses on the text,and illustration,as an important part of Chiang Yee’s special text,also has unique research value.This paper will choose Chiang Yee’s color illustration as the object of analysis and research.The paper is divided into introduction,four chapters and conclusion.The introduction describes the significance,current situation,scope and methods of this study.The first,second and third chapters of this The Silent Traveller in Paris,The Silent Traveller in Boston,The Silent Traveller in San Francisco and The Silent Traveller in Japan as examples to analyze the presentation of color illustration style in different paintings of Chiang Yee under the influence of different cultural environments.The fourth chapter is a macro analysis of Chiang Yee’s color illustration style,and briefly describes the Enlightenment of Chiang Yee’s artistic concept on the development of Chinese watercolor painting.Through the in-depth study of Chiang Yee’s color illustration,this paper first combs the cultural background involved in the painting notes,analyzes the color illustrations in different painting notes,and further explores how different artistic traditions collide,conflict,blend and coexist behind the evolution of Chiang Yee’s illustration style.
