The Study On Tianjin Changlu Infant Care Center (1912-1937)

In modern times,the cause of caring for children is an important branch of social philanthropy,and the nursery is a characteristic institution of the cause of caring for children.As an important part of Tianjin charity,Changlu Yuying hall has played a great social role in its existence for more than 150 years.This paper takes Changlu Yuying hall from 1912 to 1937 as the research object.This period is the key period for Changlu Yuying hall to transform from a traditional charity to a modern one.On the basis of efforts to improve the living conditions of children in the hall,the hall gradually expanded its function from simple parenting to productive education.In the process of scientific management,hundreds of children in the hall have been classified and managed.When they grow up,they have the ability to make a living independently and become the reserve force of labor in all fields of society.Changlu infant care center has also become the auxiliary force of social stability.This paper mainly relies on the original archives of Changlu Yuying hall and historical documents such as Ta Kung Pao and Yi Shi Bao collected by Nankai District Archives of Tianjin.Under the guidance of historical materialism,this paper uses the methods of literature analysis,data analysis and graphic method to carry out the research.Through historical demonstration and cross comparison,it tries to restore the historical evolution and operation characteristics of Changlu Yuying hall Point and its impact on Philanthropy in North China.This paper consists of two parts:introduction and textThe first part discusses the basic conditions and specific reasons for the establishment of Changlu yuyingtang.Among them,the traditional Chinese social relief thought constitutes the ideological basis for the establishment of the nursery,the frequent natural disasters in Tianjin constitute its practical needs,and the social bad habits of drowning and abandoning infants constitute its practical factors.In addition,the interaction and cooperation between the government and the people,the funding supply of Changlu salt area,and the introduction of the western concept of caring for children and technology have become the important impetus for the survival and transformation of Changlu infant care center.The second part discusses the characteristics of the times and the transformation process in the operation process of Changlu yuyingtang.This chapter first introduces the 156 year history of Changlu Yuying hall from 1794 to 1950,and on the basis of stage division of its history,introduces a series of targeted reform measures and the operation characteristics of each stage.After that,the management mechanism and charity finance of Changlu yuyingtang are studied in detail.The characteristics of Changlu infant care center are the interaction and coordination mechanism between the government and the people,and the basic financial guarantee for the long-term operation of Changlu salt administration and salt merchants.The third part discusses the important social role of Changlu baby hall.As a charitable aid institution,Changlu yuyingtang first played the role of public parenting.Later,as a charitable institution integrated with education,it also provided social practice training,promoted the return of girls to their families,and carried out medical and health assistance.In addition,this paper dialectically analyzes the negative influence of management,concept and other factors in the long-term operation process of Changlu yuyingtang.Objectively speaking,this kind of negative influence has also become a factor to stimulate the reform of Changlu yuyingtang.Generally speaking,during 1912-1937,with the promotion of the advanced concept of caring for children and modern science and technology,Changlu yuyingtang experienced many changes in various aspects,and gradually completed the transformation from the traditional state to the modern state.
