With the improvement of China’s international status,the enthusiasm of people all over the world to learn Chinese is also rising,and the world "Chinese fever" continues to rise.Teaching materials are one of the important components of the "three teachings" along with teaching and teachers,and have a lot of research space.Grammar teaching is an indispensable part of the comprehensive international Chinese teaching materials.Especially at the elementary level,the grammar arrangement will affect the teaching of grammar and will directly affect the teaching style of teachers and the learning effect of students.This paper selects the popular domestic elementary comprehensive textbooks Chinese Course and Boya Chinese as the objects of study,based on The Syllabus of Chinese Proficiency Level Standard and Grammatical Level as prototype,and employs quantitative statistics,comparative analysis and questionnaires to conduct statistics and analysis on the two textbooks.The purpose of this paper is to better understand the selection and arrangement of grammar items in the primary textbooks.In this paper,we analyze the total number of grammatical points in the two textbooks,the selection of grammatical points at the four levels of A,B,C and D,the cut-off of grammatical items,and the total number,type and form of after-class exercises.On this basis,we discuss some grammatical problems of the two textbooks,summarize the differences between the two textbooks in several aspects,and put forward opinions and suggestions on the selection and arrangement of grammatical points in the primary textbooks.This study found that in terms of the total number of grammar points,the grammar points in Chinese Course are evenly distributed and explained.Students are able to review and pre-review grammar points on their own according to the explanations given at the end of the lesson,which is suitable for most elementary level students.In contrast,Boya Chinese has more grammar points and the grammar points are relatively more difficult.It requires a high level of comprehension and learning ability,and a high level of self-discipline for students using the materials.In terms of organization,the grammar points in Boya Chinese are more intensive and concentrated compared to Chinese Course;in terms of cut-up,both textbooks follow the law of decentralized learning and finally merge into one to learn a complete grammar program;in terms of after-class exercises,there are fewer communicative questions.Especially in the Chinese Course,too many mechanical exercises are set,which tends to sap students’ motivation.
