This is a report on the translation of an excerpt from The Civil War Battles of Chickamauga and Chattanooga by Jesse Littleton Rogers, and Chapter 2-4 is the source text. The source text discusses two battles that broke out during the Civil War.Based on her understanding of the source text and the features of the informative text, the communicative translation theory of Peter Newmark is employed by the translator to guide the translation of the source text.In the report, the translator explains the communicative translation theory at length, introduces the application of the theory in this project, summarizes the problems that she has encountered during translation, and gives some examples about how to solve those problems by different translation methods. And the translator also gives a detailed introduction to the translation methods such as inversion, conversion, division, and restructuring. This report ends with the lessons learned and some unsettled problems in the translation project. The translator hopes that this report can provide useful information to people who want to explore the translation of this kind of book.
