This is a report on the translation of Covid-19: The Great Reset,of which Chapter 1 Section 2 Economic reset is the source text.The source text discusses the economic reset in the post-pandemic world,including the economics of Covid-19 and its feature,growth and employment,fiscal and monetary policies.Under the guidance of Newmark’s Communicative Translation Theory,the translator adopts translation methods like diction and conversion of part of speech at the lexical level,change of word order,division and combination at the syntactical level to make the version of the informative text simple,clear,brief and comprehensible.This report is divided into five parts.In the introduction,the translator talks about the description of the translation project,including the background and significance of the project and the structure of the report.Then,the background of the source text is introduced including the introduction of authors--Klaus Schwab and Thierry Malleret,main content--the economic reset in the post-pandemic world,text type--informative text and the source text’s linguistic features from lexical and syntactical level.Next,the translator analyzes Newmark’s Communicative Translation Theory and its application as well as its correlation of the source text.Then it is followed by case analysis from lexical and syntactic level.In the end,the translator concludes with the gains and limitations in the translation.The translator finds that communicative translation is suitable for informative text.In addition,diction and conversion of parts of speech are of great help to the translation of words,and change of word order,division and combination are of great help to the translation of sentences. |
