COVID-19 has spread worldwide in a short time, triggering off public panic and sharp economic recession with its high mortality rate.As a product in special time, the e-book Economics in the Time of COVID-19 presents analysis and forecasts on economy provided by world-famous economists during the COVID-19 pandemic, endeavoring to offer rich data and professional information from different perspectives.Under the guidance of functionalist approaches to translation, this report focuses on analyzing translation problems and offering corresponding solutions. There are three kinds of translation problems discussed in this report: mistranslation of special terms, loss of original logic and inconformity with Chinese grammatical rules.Several strategies are adopted, such as standardization in translating special terms, information restructuring to conform to the logical expression habits of the target language as well as conversion of part of speech.Through this translation practice, the translator has developed a better understanding about the COVID-19 pandemic and has accumulated translation experience about translating economic texts. However, there are still some deficiencies and limitations, such as inefficient searching ability as well as being not good enough in language consistency and professional expressions. To improve her translation ability, the translator should spare no efforts to get extensive knowledge in various fields,to improve information searching ability and to make a deeper analysis of translation theories. It is hoped that this report will contribute to providing referential value for relevant translation practice.
