| Thai historical material “Thai-China Relations” was collated and published by the Archives of the National Art Agency of Thailand in1978.It contains official correspondence and official documents between Thailand and China from the period from the Tunburi Dynasty to the fifth king of the Bangkok Dynasty,recording the changes in diplomatic relations between Thailand and China.This report is based on the Chinese translation of the excerpts of chapter five of Thai-Chinese relations.Under the guidance of Toury’s norms theory,this report discusses the author’s thinking on different choices in the translation process from the perspective of descriptive translation research.Under the initial norms,the sufficiency and acceptability bias of the translation of Thai historical materials are discussed from three aspects: proper nouns,royal terminology and culture-loaded words.It is found that acceptable translation is more conducive to improving translation readability and realizing the fundamental purpose of historical translation to transmit information.Under the operational norms,the specific translation methods under the acceptability translation bias are discussed from four aspects: addition,omission,rewriting and word order adjustment.Finally,summarize the translation practice,discuss inspiration and experience. |
