The translation report is selected from Angst: Origins of Anxiety and Depression(Chapter 3).It starts with the discussion about the origins of social anxiety and introduces readers to the syndromes and corresponding solutions by using a large number of cases. The source text is classified into popular psychological science books.Numerous terms and passive voice sentences are typical of such texts.Additionally,a large number of quotations including books, songs, and idioms are regarded as difficulties when translating the text.According to the text type theory of translator Peter Newmark, the source text is informative text. Thus, the translator, guided by the communicative translation, adopts the translation methods such as annotation and zero translation so as to make sure that the text can produce the same effect on the original readers as that on target readers. Moreover, the translator also concludes the gains during translation and problems that yet to be discussed. Finally,it expects to provide some references for translators who work for similar texts in the future.
