| This thesis is a report on the translation of Chapter in The Feminism Book adopted from Dorling Kindersley(Dk)’s Big Ideas Simply Explained series in 2019.Through the translation of this text, the target readers can understand the development of feminism in western society in the past decade, and its actions to be taken and its goals to be achieved in the future, which have a certain reference value for the development of Chinese society, especially for correctly guiding the development of feminism in China. Therefore, the report has a certain value to work on.The main problem to be solved in this report, additionally,is how to keep the main ideas of the source text in the translated text to the maximum extent and to transfer them to the target readers in an effective manner. Therefore, the translator selects the Skopos Theory and its three rules as the foot-stone,discusses the difficulties met in translating at syntactical level, such as the translation of subordinate clauses, scattered sentences and parallel sentences, and at lexical level, such as the translation of culture-gapped words. Moreover, the translator adopts various translation strategies, such as free translation and domestication, and different translation skills, such as restructuring, omission, conversion and annotation,to realize intratextual coherence and intertextual coherence in the translation.By doing so,the purpose of translation practice, which is to spread the latest feminism in China, can also be achieved further. |
