| The regular control and prevention of COVID-19 pandemic has accelerated the development of remote working,bringing more needs for remote interpreting.Yet,the studies on remote interpreting are proved insufficient and interpreters often feel helpless when confronted with problems in this regard.The report takes a closer look on remote interpreting.From the perspective of interpreter competence proposed by Dr.Wang Binhua,the report analyzes the typical cases in the interpreting task for the course Jazz Music History and Appreciation.Through the cases analyses in terms of interpreting skills,professional qualities and psychological qualities,the report aims to find out the involved interpreter competences and challenges in remote interpreting,as well as the corresponding coping tactics of the problems.It also intends to provide references for the training of interpreters.It is found that the remote interpreters should be aware of the following seven points: more logical and intelligible interpretation;inference of the unknown information from what is known;interpersonal communication skills;the immediate feedback of the audience;role positioning and shift;the ability to work under pressure;and the ability to work under interference.Moreover,the report advises on the training of students majoring in interpreting so as to help them adapt to the new job market. |
