Yunnan is a province with the richest biodiversity in China. In order to ensure the success of COP 15 and promote the implementation of some positive measures and objectives of biodiversity conservation, the Second‘Science-Policy Dialogue for Support the Implementation of the Convention on Biological Diversity through National Ecosystem Assessments in the North-East Asia Region’ was convened smoothly in Kunming. The interpreter exactly simulated simultaneous interpreting of the conference and faithfully recorded the whole process from the preparation phrase to the end of interpreting task, aiming to make the world better understand the biodiversity of China and Yunnan, and work together to promote ecological conservation.Meanwhile, she hopes to provide references for relevant interpretation tasks in the future.Furthermore, the interpreter also aims to explore how to apply translation theory to practice. This interpreting task is based on Gile’s Interpretation Comprehension Equation. The Equation points out that the interpreter’s understanding is determined by three aspects: linguistic knowledge,extra-linguistic knowledge and analytical ability. The three aspects do not exist independently, but they will be emphasized at the different degree for the sake of the understanding of different source text.Under the guidance of the Interpretation Comprehension Equation, the interpreter summarizes the difficulties encountered in the simulated interpretation, which can be classified as linguistic barriers,extra-linguistic barriers and analytical barriers.Likewise, she summarizes some translation methods needed to solve these barriers, such as paraphrasing, reformulation, amplification and segmentation,so as to help the interpreter strengthen her understanding and complete the interpretation task efficiently and accurately.
