| This is a report on English-Chinese translation Dimensions of Australian Society(Chapter 7-Australian education system),which is written by Brian Graz and Ian Mc Allister.Dimensions of Australian Society is divided into three parts: demographics,society,and political behavior.The translation detailed on chapter 7 education,and the part of chapter 9Australian society.Due to the use of word conversion and relative clauses,the translator also encountered some problems in the process of translation.The translation of informative text requires authenticity and accuracy,so the translator classifies the word conversion and relative clauses in the paper.Guided by Eugene Nida’s Functional Equivalence theory,this translation practice report briefly analyzes word conversion and relative clauses.The method of converting nouns to verbs and adjectives into nouns are used in this report,and the same time,division and combination methods are used to study relative clauses to analyze some cases.In the process of translation,translator has realized that Functional Equivalence theory has great theoretical guidance value for informative text translation.This translation practice can provide research cases for the translation of informative text,and provide reference value for the study of Australian culture. |
