The Multi-angle Study Of Discourse Marker “Bucuo”

With the development of pragmatics,the related research of discourse markers has gradually become a hotspot of academic research.Foreign language scholars such as Schiffrin,Fraser and Blakemore have gradually established the basic theoretical framework and guiding principles of discourse markers,and Chinese language scholars have also shown great interest in it,which enriches the study of discourse marker theory.Based on the CCL corpus,this paper takes the discourse marker“Bucuo”as the research object,combines the basic linguistic knowledge,discourse marker theory,cognitive pragmatics theory and other theories,and adopts the research methods of qualitative and quantitative,synchronic and diachronic,descriptive and explanatory analysis and research on the discourse marker“Bucuo”from multiple perspectives.In addition to the introduction and conclusion,his paper consists of the following four parts:The first part defines“Bucuo₂”and“Bucuo₃”based on the academic criteria for discourse markers,and identifies them as discourse markers.Based on the classification theory of discourse marker and the analysis of corpus,this paper determines that“Bucuo₂”is the receptive discourse marker,and“Bucuo₃”is the expressive discourse marker.The former is usually located at the beginning or independent,middle and end of a sentence,and the latter is usually located in the middle of a sentence.The second part attempts to analyze the subjective meaning of the discourse marker"not bad".The receptive discourse marker“Bucuo”has subjective characteristics,which can be expressed in two ways:identification,complement and explanation;the expressive discourse marker“Bucuo”has interactive subjective characteristics,which is embodied in the speaker/author’s attention to the listener/reader.The third part explores the function of the discourse marker“Bucuo”.The receptive discourse marker“Bucuo”has three pragmatic functions:coping function,topic function and discourse cohesion function,while the expressive discourse marker“Bucuo”has two discourse functions:turning continuation function and discourse logical linkage function.The fourth part combs the evolution of discourse marker“Bucuo”and the formation of the cause and mechanism.It was conceived in the Warring States Period,sprout in the Song Dynasty,formed and developed in the Qing Dynasty,and further developed in the modern Chinese period.The meaning of“Bucuo”changed from the initial positive structural phrase to the lexicalization and pragmatization to the acceptance discourse marker and then to the expression discourse marker.It is completed under the joint action of economic principle,cooperative principle and politeness principle,semantic vagueness,contextual reasoning and syntactic structure solidification and so on.
