Astudyof Bernard Malamud’s Novels Fromthe Perspectiveof Lterary Ti Herapy

Bernard Malamud is one of the postwar writers who are active in the American and international literary circles in the middle and late 20th century.He is good at depicting Jewish immigrants who are suffering from alienation and suffering from mental and physical wounds caused by war.Malamud’s novels reproduce the plight of survival and cultural identity faced by the marginalized Jewish immigrants in aphasia,and play a great role in consoling and rescuing the Jewish people struggling in the cracks of alien native culture,so they are welcomed by readers all over the world.This paper studies Malamud’s novels from the perspective of literary therapy.His works are a good medicine to cure himself and others(Jewish immigrants and even the whole mankind).The origin of Literary Therapy in Malamud’s novels points out that Jewish culture exists in the crevice of alien native culture,so the forgetting of Jewish religious view,the weakening of Jewish tradition,anti Semitism and racism make it possible for Malamud to carry out literary therapy in his works.This paper focuses on the perspective of mythical archetypal therapy and psychoanalytic therapy,and expounds the path of Jewish immigrants seeking spiritual salvation and cultural identity salvation in Malamud’s novels.Mythological archetypal therapy:Malamud creates the archetypes of "scapegoats" such as Yakov and Leo in his works such as the resentment of Kiev and the magic barrel,which aims to show that Jewish individuals can only achieve the salvation of the Jewish nation by enduring pain and having the courage to make atonement for others;at the same time,in his works such as the silver crown and the gift of God,Malamud puts forward that only by breaking the collective unconsciousness can we achieve the salvation of the Jewish nation Anti Semitic thought,which combines personal interests with national interests,can truly realize the independence of Jewish culture and point out a bright road of salvation for all Jews and even for all mankind.In the part of psychoanalytic therapy,Malamud shows his strong life experience of self-healing in his novels such as shop assistant and new life,which solves the inner pain of the creative subject and realizes self-healing;in the part of treating others,Malamud shows his strong life experience of self-healing in his novels such as shop assistant,born athlete and angel Levin《Black is my favorite color."The tenant" and other works raise the subconscious admiration of Jewish morality,the return of family and the construction of Jewish identity to the level of consciousness,that is,subconscious "consciousness therapy",which catharsis of Jewish immigrants’repressed desire and realizes the group therapy of Jewish people and even readers all over the world.Bernard Malamud’s novels soothe the hearts of the victims in a pure literary way,purify the soul in the dialogue between readers,texts and writers,return to the true state of life,resolve the inner pain,and finally find the value of survival.Bernard Malamud’s Literary Therapy writing is of great significance,which promotes the literary value of his novels and their position in the history of literature.
