Abstract/Summary:
The relationship between Marxism and morality is one of the most controversial issues. The “Tucker–Wood” Thesis between Analytical Marxist scholars seems like a “Moral Dilemma” in Marxism. In Marxism and Morality,Steven Lukes argues that the way to solve“The Paradox” between Marxism and morality is to distinguish “the morality of Recht” and “the morality of emancipation”.In fact, communism in the future is not the end of “Recht”,constracting “the morality of emancipation” without “the morality of Recht” will lead to a kind of Moral Utopia, which should be discussed as “Sub-Paradox”between “anti-Utopia” and “Utopia”.In practice, mechanism and dogmatism will arouse the problem of “Means and Ends”,sometimes even leads to serious consequences. Finally,Steven Lukes regarded Marxism as a theory of perfectionist consequentialism, which causes situations all above. The definition of perfectionist consequentialism equated Soviet Marxism with the whole Marxism,by compared,R.G.Peffer’s theory of“mixed deontological” gives a better answer. To solve the “Mora Dilemma”of Marxism in a modern way, scientific norms and value pursuit must be transcended by historical materialism and Marxist Axiology.
