A Study On The Epitaphs Of The Female Dependents Of The Scholar Families In The Song Dynasty

As the core members of scholar families,female dependents play three roles in traditional society: being a woman,a wife and a mother.However,in the traditional historical writing,the materials of the female family members of the scholars are mainly recorded in the epitaphs.The Song Dynasty is a historical period when the culture of the female family members’ epitaphs tends to be developed.At present,there are more than1300 epitaphs of female family members of scholars in Song Dynasty,which are mainly divided into two forms: stone inscription epitaph and anthology epitaph.Epitaph is the core and main literature material of recording traditional women’s "history".Epitaph writing has rich historical information and cultural connotation.From the perspective of epitaphs and epitaphs,based on the literature collection and unearthed epitaphs of female dependents,this paper summarizes the number and characteristics of epitaphs of female dependents of scholar families in Song Dynasty.According to the three elements of epitaphs,i.e.title,inscription and epitaph,this paper focuses on the four issues of title,inscription,inscription and value of epitaphs of female dependents of scholar families.In addition to the introduction,the main research content is divided into five chapters.The first chapter summarizes the general situation of the epitaphs of the female dependents of the scholar families in the Song Dynasty.First,based on the collection of works of the whole Song Dynasty,the number of epitaphs of female dependents in the collection of works of the Song Dynasty is more than 1000.Based on the collection of epitaphs and inscriptions of New Song Dynasty,the number of epitaphs of female dependents unearthed is more than 300.Second,on the basis of statistical data,according to the epitaph writing of the female dependents of the literati,the epitaph types of the female dependents include the independent epitaph of the female dependents,the joint epitaph of the husband and wife,the attached epitaph of the husband,and the attached epitaph of the son.Third,combined with the general situation of the epitaphs of the female dependents recorded in the anthology and unearthed,it summarizes and analyzes the differences of the epitaphs of the female dependents between the anthology and the stone edition in the writing meaning.The second chapter discusses the epitaph of the female family members of the scholars in Song Dynasty.The main purpose of this paper is to investigate the evolution of the meaning and cultural implication of the epitaph of the female family members of the scholar family in detail.The title of the family of the family of scholars and women experienced the evolution trend from the title of cover to the title(including the middle title),the first one(right topic).The epitaph title writing showed the political implication of "respecting the Lord" and the traditional family "the way of family" from the father to learn "," from the husband to the precious "," from the son to the life ".The title of the title of the female family epitaph involves the name of the Marquis,which is a special practice of the system of the female in the tomb culture of the Song Dynasty.The third chapter is an introduction to the epitaphs of the female dependents of the scholars in Song Dynasty.The epitaphs of the female dependents are similar to those of the male scholars in meaning,mainly including rich life information such as the origin of the family,the town,the administration,the life,the death and burial,which highlights the "life course" of the female dependents.In the traditional society,the female dependents of the literati family generally play three family roles: being a daughter,a wife and a mother,which correspond to the life course of the "attached man" who follows the father,the father and the son.The epitaph narration of female dependents can be divided into following narration,flashback narration and discussion type.Different narration methods will have different emphases on the epitaph content.The fourth chapter studies the epitaphs of the female dependents of the scholars in Song Dynasty.As the "tail" of the epitaph,the epitaph summarizes the "life meaning" of the female dependents.The epitaphs of the female dependents of the literati in Song Dynasty have varied styles and rich contents,mainly including "three fonts","four fonts","yeziyan","Xi font" and "argumentative style".The use of different styles mixed with long and short sentences adds a lot of color to the epitaphs.The epitaphs are more concise summary of the contents of the epitaphs,which echo the contents of the epitaphs as independent characters.The fifth chapter summarizes the value of the epitaphs of the female dependents of the scholar families in the Song Dynasty.The epitaph,as the main material of writing and recording the "life course" of the female dependents of the literati family,has many values.The first is the historical value,that is,the epitaph writing of female dependents involves official titles,historical figures and political events,which has the function of "historical materials" to supplement and prove history.The other is the epitaph of female dependents carved with stone,or there are calligraphy Dan,seal forehead and stone carving of famous officials,and the epitaph(including the cover)is mostly carved with decorative patterns and images,which has high calligraphy,seal cutting art and aesthetic value.Thirdly,the epitaphs of the female dependents are rich in style,beautiful and fluent in diction.In addition,there are many famous scholars and officials among the epitaph writers,so many epitaphs of the female dependents have high literary value.
