A Study Of The Serial Verbs Construction In Sui Language

Serial Verbs Construction（SVCs）is one of the key and difficult problems in grammar research.As a unique grammatical form in the grammar system of Sui language,the SVCs has been studied by scholars for many years,and many achievements have been made,but it still needs to be further studied.Based on the theme of SVCs in Sui language,this paper attempts to describe the serial verb structure in Sui language comprehensively by using relevant linguistic theories.In addition to the introduction and conclusion,this paper is divided into four chapters.The first chapter is about the types of serial verb structure in Sui language.Based on the data collected through field investigation and combined with the linguistic facts of Sui language,this paper focuses on the description of the serial verb structures S+V₁+V₂、S+V₁+V₂+O、S+V₁+O+V₂、S+V₁+O₁+V₂+O₂in Sui language from the perspective of form and according to the characteristics of the combined relationship between the continuous verb and the subject and object.The second chapter is the semantic relationship of the serial verb structure in Sui language.Because the number of verbs or verb phrases in the serial verb structure is restricted by the syntactic structure and semantic structure,this paper focuses on the semantic relationship between the subject and the predicate,the semantic relationship between the continuous verbs,the semantic structure relationship between the serial verb structure"VP₁"and"VP₂",the order choice of verbs and the logical relationship.The third chapter is about the syntactic features of the serial verb structure in Sui language.The unique syntactic features of serial verb structures are the basis of their independent syntactic structures,and syntactic structures are the necessary structures for words to form sentences.This part mainly describes the inter verb components and argument features of the syntactic features of serial verb structures in Sui language,the negative form of serial verb structures,and the grammatical functions of serial verb structures.Chapter four is about the grammaticalization of the serial verb structure in Sui language.There is a close relationship between serial verb structure and grammaticalization.Grammaticalization of verbs is common in the syntactic environment of serial verb structure.We have made a preliminary study of the grammaticalization of directional verbs in Sui language.The last part is the conclusion.This paper makes a summary of the previous chapters.
