A Report On The C-E Simulated Consecutive Interpreting Of The Documentary Two Hundred Years Of Surgery

This report is a practice report on simulated Chinese-English consecutive interpretation.The interpreter uses the first episode of The Light of Reason in the popular medical science documentary Two Hundred Years of Surgery as the practical material to conduct simulated consecutive interpreting practice,and uses Gile’s Cognitive Load Model as the theoretical framework to try to analyze the interpreter’s cognitive load pressure during their work in the process of consecutive interpreting.In the current world,people have more in-depth discussions on people and society,people and nature,and medical development involving life and death has become the focus of attention from all walks of life.Two Hundred Years of Surgery takes "surgery" as the core,demonstrating the development history of modern medicine systematically.The guiding theory of this simulated interpreting practice report is Gile’s cognitive load model,which analyzes the problems in the simulated consecutive interpreting practice from four perspectives:listening comprehension,energy allocation,language knowledge and extra linguistic knowledge,and the interpreter took these four aspects as a clue to propose a solution strategy.The report is divided into four chapters.The first part is the introduction of tasks.The interpreter briefly explained the background,significance and structure of the task.The second part is task description,which introduces the specific process of pre-interpretation,interpretation process and post-interpretation in detail.The third part is case analysis.The interpreter aims to illustrate the mistakes and improper interpretation through specific examples in the task,and clarify the reasons for the mistakes,and propose a modified case.The fourth part is the conclusion,which puts forward the solutions according to the problem cases in the third part,puts forward the limitations of the report,and finally records the interpreter’s reflection on this task.
