In English classroom teaching,the construction and maintenance of the classroom environment is extremely important,which is not only a powerful way for teachers or students to obtain common perception,but also one of the important factors that affect students’ language learning efficiency.In addition,The National English Curriculum Standards for Senior High School(2017 Edition)encourages students to carry out independent learning and develop good study habits.It can be seen that the classroom environment and autonomous learning ability are two important factors that affect students’ English academic performance.The literature shows that scholars at home and abroad have conducted researches on English classroom environment perception and autonomous learning ability from multiple perspectives,but there are few literatures on the correlation between the classroom environment perception,autonomous learning ability and English academic performance of senior high school students.Therefore,the author conducts an empirical study on high school students’ English classroom environment perception and autonomous learning ability,in order to deeply understand the interaction between classroom environment perception and autonomous learning ability,as well as the influence of these two factors on English academic performance.In this study,the author adopts literature research methods,questionnaire survey methods and statistical analysis methods,using the English Classroom Environment Scale for Senior High School Students and English Autonomous Learning Ability Scale for Senior High School Students as research tools,choosing 240 high school students in Ganzhou City,Jiangxi Province as subject,aims to explore the following questions:1.What is the overall situation of high school students’ perception on English classroom environment?2.What is the overall situation of high school students’ English autonomous learning ability?3.Is there a correlation among the classroom environment perception,autonomous learning ability and English academic performance of senior high school students?Through date analysis,the result indicated that:1.High school students are more satisfied with their English classroom environment(m=3.727).Among them,the class order dimension has the highest score(m=4.019),and the task orientation dimension has the lowest score(m=3.562).2.Senior high school students’ English autonomous learning ability is at an intermediate level(m=3.062),of which the dimension of understanding of teachers’ teaching objectives and requirements has the highest score(m=3.190),and the dimension of monitoring and evaluation of English learning process has the lowest score(m=2.911).3.High school students’ English classroom environment perception,autonomous learning ability and English academic performance are correlated.There is a positive correlation between English classroom environment perception and academic performance(r=0.487**).There is also a positive correlation between English autonomous learning ability and English academic performance(r=0.558**).There is also a positive correlation between English classroom environment perception and English autonomous learning ability of senior high school students(r=0.546**).In addition,the English classroom environment perception and English autonomous learning ability of high school students have a direct impact on English academic performance.Among them,the English classroom environment perception of high school students can predict 23.7% of English academic performance,English autonomous learning ability can predict 31.1% of English academic performance,and the English classroom environment perception of high school students can predict 35.8% of English academic performance when it is correlated with English autonomous learning ability.Based on the above research results,the author proposes effective teaching suggestions from the aspects of building a harmonious teacher-student relationship and cultivating students’ awareness of cooperation and task.It is hoped that an excellent classroom environment can be created that can stimulate students’ interest and improve their autonomous learning ability,so as to improve their English academic performance.
