Language learning is inseparable from the influence of language environment. In China, most primary and secondary school students mainly study English in class. Thus,English classroom environment has a certain effect on students’ English learning(Wen Qiufang &Wang Lifei,2004).In addition,English classroom environment,as one of the external factors affecting students’ English achievement, can not be ignored by educators who want to improve English teaching quality. In view of this, this thesis investigates the English classroom environment perception of295 Senior Grade Two students in 6 parallel classes and 3 English teachers of No.3 Senior High School in Yining city through Middle School English Classroom Environment Inventory(MSECEI),test paper and interviews.Based on Lewin’s field theory,Moos’ s human environment theory and constructivism learning theory, this thesis mainly studies the following three questions:(1)What is the current situation of Senior Grade Two students’ perception of English classroom environment?(2)What is the correlation between Senior Grade Two students’ perception of English classroom environment and their English achievement?(3)Are there differences in the perception of English classroom environment among students in high, middle and low English level groups? If so,what are the differences?Through analysis of the collected data, the following research results are obtained:(1)The overall perception of English classroom environment of Senior Grade Two students is at a moderate level.(2)There is a relatively significant positive correlation between Senior Grade Two students’ overall perception of English classroom environment and their English achievement.(3)There are significant differences in English classroom environment perception among Senior Grade Two students in high, middle and low English level groups.Generally speaking, there are significant differences in the overall perception of English classroom environment between students in high level group and those in middle level group, between students in high level group and those in low level group, and between students in middle level group and those in low level group.Based on the research results,English teachers should appropriately improve English classroom environment from the aspects of teacher support, student cohesiveness, cooperation, task orientation and class order to trigger students’ interest in English learning and form an active English classroom environment.Besides,English teachers should focus on the discrepancies of English classroom environment perception among students in high, middle and low level groups, and make full use of these discrepancies in practical English classroom teaching so as to improve students’ English achievement.
