| Oral English ability is not only an important part of language ability in English core literacy but also a key indicator to measure students’ English level.How to improve the pupils’ oral English ability is an important issue for English teachers in primary school.Based on the research of English picture books and oral English ability at home and abroad,combined with the actual situation of the experimental subjects and English textbooks,acrodding to input hypothesis theory,holistic language teaching theory and other related theories,this paper introduces English picture books into English Teaching of grade 6 in primary school,in order to improve pupils’ oral English ability.This paper adopts the research on educational experiment to test the effect of English picture books on pupils’ oral English ability scientifically.In this study,two parallel classes were selected as the research object in Grade 6 of X primary school in Luoyang City,one was set as the control class,the other was set as the experimental class.In the experimental class,English picture books are integrated into the normal teaching to train the students’ oral ability.However,the control class only trained the students’ oral ability through normal English teaching.Before and after the experiment,the students’ oral ability of the two classes were tested pre-test and post-test.After the experiment,the results of the two tests were statistically analyzed by spss19.0:English Picture books can improve pupil’s oral English ability;English Picture books promote the four dimensions of “imitate”,“read”,“answer questions”,“ conversation” and “freely expression” of pupil;There is no significant difference in the influence of English picture books on the oral English ability of pupil of different genders;Girls are better than boys in promoting the “imitate”,“read” of pupils about English picture books.Based on the above conclusions,this paper suggest that schools should carry out activities to create a learning atmosphere for English picture books;organize training to improve teachers’ English picture book teaching literacy and cultivate students’ study habits in home schools.At the same time,teachers are also advised to pay attention to the whole teaching,dilute language knowledge,pay attention to "true" input,avoid "pseudo" output;pay attention to the effectiveness of group activities,ensure classroom participation and make full use of the picture to improve the attractiveness of the classroom. |
