Reading not only has a positive effect on the development of children’s language ability,but also has a positive effect on the development of various aspects such as thinking logic.In the process of English learning,English reading is also crucial.China’s compulsory education curriculum standards also make grading requirements for this.In recent years,English picture books have become more and more popular with educators and scholars because of their pictures and texts,vivid and interesting,in line with the characteristics of children’s cognitive development.How to reasonably and effectively introduce the reading method of English picture book reading into the classroom,teach different students according to their aptitude,and give full play to its value is still a problem worthy of study.In this study,questionnaires,experiments and tests were used to study the practice of English picture books in primary school English reading teaching.A total of 87 students in the two parallel classes in the fourth grade taught by the author used a questionnaire to find out whether students’ interest in English reading has improved after English picture book reading.Afterwards,use the test paper to compare whether the students’ English reading score before and after learning the English picture book is improved,and whether it is helpful to the students’ English reading ability.After finding that there are no significant differences between the two classes,the author came to the following two conclusions after a semester of research and analysis of experimental data:(1)The reading of English picture books can promote the cultivation of English reading interest in elementary schools,thereby cultivating students’ reading habits and making students fall in love with reading and learn from it.(2)English picture books can help pupils improve their score.As a reading material,English picture books can expand students’ horizons and improve students’ reading abilities.Finally,the author summarizes the deficiencies in the research process.In addition to the small number of research objects,the format of the reading materials of the picture book is electronic version,which may be different from the paper version.In future studies,the research object can be expanded,and various detection methods can be used. |
