| China develops from the Rural Society,which is the foundation of Chinese society.In the process of modernization,the countryside is undoubtedly the most representative rural social form.The study of the countryside is not only a social or political issue related to the relationship between urban and rural areas,but also a communication issue related to culture and meaning.In the process of modernization,the countryside is a distant space from the modern civilization.Therefore,people mostly through the media to understand the countryside.The film media,as a kind of comprehensive extension of the senses,has some advantages in presenting the countryside,but also has a very important role in representing the image of the countryside.The process of movie media constructing rural image is a complicated process of subjective construction,and media geography provides a unique perspective and theory for the study of this process.The research scope of media geography covers three aspects: "The geographic content of various media","the space created by media" and "the space used by media".It not only studies the production geography of the media content,the content which the media presents,but also studies the space which the media uses or consumes.Media geography provides a unique perspective for the study of rural images in films,and can analyze the "space created by media",which is the countryside in film media through the dimensions of space and time.In addition,we can trace the construction of rural image in the film by analyzing the rural film producers,so as to find out the influence factors behind the construction of rural image of country film.In the first chapter of this paper,what kind of rural image has appeared in Chinese films since the reform and opening-up is taken as the core issue,and the current research situation of media geography,rural image and image construction of rural image is sorted out.It is found that there are few studies on the way and presentation of Country Image from the perspective of media geography.Therefore,based on the theory of media geography,this paper selects the three major film awards in Chinese mainland during the40 years from 1981 to 2020,namely,the Popular Hundred Flowers Awards,Golden Cock Awards and Huabiao Awards,as samples(a total of 67 films).Text analysis method,Content analysis and case analysis method are used in the study.The second chapter focuses on the construction of the image of the rural landscape,and analyzes the image of the rural natural landscape,settlement landscape and economic landscape in the countryside film.The third chapter of the article focuses on the shaping of the image of the rural people in the country film,and analyzes the gender differences in the image of the countryside.The study found that these films have shaped four types of rural images,namely,the sufferer of the times,the adherers of tradition and values,the defenders of rights and the struggler for development.In the fourth chapter,it analyzes the image of rural culture from the perspective of strangers and people leaving from the rural in the flowing space from the "space" element of media geography.The fifth chapter,through the tracing analysis of the production of rural image,finds the influence of the director’s geographical and intergenerational changes,literary trends and social development realities and historical factors on the construction of rural image of rural films.The last chapter will be based on the analysis and research of the first five chapters,summarize and put forward the shortcomings and problems of the film media in the process of representing the rural image,including the separation of image construction from the development of reality,the problem of image masking for the passively shaped by the other and the problem of stereotypes of the continuation of media memory.Therefore,the film media need to be more decentralized,but also need to keep up with the changes in the countryside,multi-faceted,three-dimensional presentation of the countryside. |
