In the 1930s and 1940s,Yu was active and active in Shanghai’s urban literary world. Most of his novels were written on women, and he was particularly good at expressing the urban life of men and women in marriage and family life.Yu Qie’s novels cannot be summarized simply by the word "popular".Similar to the novels of Zhang Ailing and Xu Xu in the same period, his novels present the characteristics of "a mixture of new and old".As a male writer,Yu Qie’s continuous exploration of the image and destiny of urban women in his novels shows Yu and his attention to urban women to a certain extent.I also thought about and explored the issues of urban women’s marriage and love life and living conditions in the 1930s and 1940s,which not only contrasted with the writings of women writers such as Zhang Ailing and Su Qing in the same period, but also gave a good impression on Women’s writing in the 1940s adds luster. The thesis is divided into four chapters: The first chapter mainly studies the urban context of the creation of novels,Specifically,it includes the Yu Qie-style novel that elaborates the fusion of the old and the new and the hodgepodge of Shanghai, the development of popular literature journals, and the rise of new citizen reading groups. The special political and cultural background at that time,as well as changes in the media and reading groups, will have a certain impact on Yu Qie’s novel creation. The second chapter mainly discusses the images of urban women in Yu Qie’s novels, and divides urban women’s images into three categories: One is the traditional old female image as "materialized";the second is the image of a new woman in the era of independence and freedom;the third is " The "new" is not the "old" marginal female image. The image of urban women that is given and shaped has a three-dimensional impression. They are kind and strong, even in an environment full of thorns, they still work hard. The third chapter mainly explores the writing style of urban women in the novel. The urban women’s writings in Yu Qie’s works have both the shadow of traditional popular literature and the techniques of new literature, showing a unique style of "a mixture of refined and popular".In addition,Yu Qie’s novels explore how urban women survive in society, presenting a "life-oriented" narrative standpoint. At the same time,in the urban context of a special era,the allegorical isomorphism of the"fatherless text" shows the concern for society. The fourth chapter mainly discusses the female writing of new citizen literature and Yu Qie’s novels in the 1930s and 1940s.It compares Yu Qie’s novels with the female writings of new citizen novelists of the same period, and uses the female writings of Zhang Ailing,Su Qing, and Pan Liudai’s novels as examples.Representatives,to explore the status and significance of urban female writing in Yu Qie’s novels in popular literature.
