A Report On The Chinese Translation Of The English Articles Of Anti-aging Drugs

With the continuous improvement of living standards and the constant extension of people’s life expectancy around the world,people are increasingly concerned about how to live a healthy life in old age and delay their aging process.Anti-aging drug was selected as one of the world’s top ten breakthrough technologies in 2020 by MIT Technology Review.Therefore,the Chinese translation of the English articles related to anti-aging drugs can meet people’s reading needs so that they can learn more ways to live more healthily.This thesis is a report on the Chinese translation of three English articles about anti-aging drugs published on https://www.phcoker.com/.Guided by Vermeer’s Skopos Theory and Reiss’ Text Typology,this thesis is aimed at analyzing the problems and the corresponding solutions in the translation process.The main problems include the translator’s improper treatment of the redundancy in the source texts,the improper transfer of the information of the source texts and the neglect of the logic in the source texts.These problems are solved respectively by removing the redundant expressions according to the target readers’ expectations,making the translation be information-oriented,making the translation be inter-coherent and logical.By doing the translation,the translator has had a deeper understanding of her own shortcomings and has improved her translation abilities.It is hoped that this report may be also helpful for the future relevant translation activities.
