| Due to the differences in grammatical structure and language expression between English and Chinese,the translation of attributive clauses has become the crucial and difficult point in the course of translating scientific texts.Regarding to the translation strategies of attributive clauses,apart from the strategies of pre-positioning and post-positioning,attributive clauses can also be translated into blending structure,coordinate structure or adverbial structure.In this report,the author takes the ninth chapter of Darwin’s Unfinished Symphony: How Culture Made the Human Mind as the practical text for this report.Different strategies are adopted for different attributive clauses so as to make fluent and natural translation,such as pre-positioning,post-positioning,blending and converting attributive clause into an adverbial.The report may help people translate attributive clauses according to their grammatical structures and adopt appropriate strategies for idiomatic Chinese expression.Meanwhile,this report may throw light on the English-Chinese translation of attributive clauses. |
