Research On Chinese Social Appellationsand Their Uygur Translation From The Perspective Of Adaptation Theory

Empresses in the Palace is a drama about palace struggling stories in the Qing Dynasty.As there are many characters in the drama,the appellations used are also very rich.The social appellations in the play fully reflect the profound influence of the hierarchical system of Chinese feudal society and Confucian culture in China,and demonstrate the complex relationship between characters and their personality.During language selection in the translation process,translators should conform to the psychological cognition and expression habits of the target audience,thereby achieving a better translation effect.Guided by the adaptation theory,with the translation of the social appellations in Empresses in the Palace as the object of research,this paper first classifies the social appellations in the drama using literature research method,corpus method and other research methods,interprets some social appellationswith examples,and demonstrates the influence of the adaptation theory on the selection of social appellationsin Empresses in the Palacethrough case study.Secondly,it analyzes the translation of social appellationsin the play using several translation methods and strategies based on the adaptation theory,finds out the existing problems and puts forward the translation optimization countermeasures,thereby providing translators with new ideas.This paper is divided into five chapters.Chapter I elaboratesthe objective and significance of the research,reviews the previous research results,and introduces relevant core concepts,theoretical basis,corpus source,research methods and research innovations.Chapter II classifies the social appellations in the TV series Empresses in the Palace,and interprets some social appellations with examples combined with the appellation dictionary.Chapter III discusses the influence of the adaptation theory on social appellation selection from the perspective of contextual adaptation in the selection of appellations in the TV series Empresses in the Palace.Chapter IV analyzes the Uygurtranslation of the social appellations in the TV series Empresses in the Palace from the perspective of contextual adaptation.Chapter V finds some problems in the translation process,and puts forward some optimization countermeasures.The conclusion part summarizes the full text.
