This report is based on a research project proposed by the author’s supervisor, which is aimed to develop an “English Travel Brochure of Tianjin” for foreign tourists. The content mainly includes the basic overview of Tianjin Binhai New Area and introductions to some scenic spots.Among them, the culture-loaded words, mythological stories, classical Chinese and common sayings are the difficult parts in translation as well as the research focus of this report. In order to guarantee the quality and readability of translation, this report takes Aesthetics of Reception as its theoretical foundation and the translation of scenic spots in Tianjin Binhai New Area as examples, exploring the translation methods of tourism texts under the consideration of readers from three aspects, namely language patterns, cultural backgrounds and aesthetic habits. In different translation cases, the author mainly adopts translation strategies such as amplification, omission, free translation and annotation.According to Aesthetics of Reception, the translator should fully take readers’ language, cultural and aesthetic habits into account to shorten the aesthetic distance between the translated work and readers, thus making the translation easier to be accepted.Meanwhile, the translator should fully consider readers’ changing horizon of expectations and their curiosity about Chinese culture, thus promoting the Chinese language and culture to foreign readers through the translation of tourism texts.Only in this way can the readers’ horizon of expectations be expanded and the consideration of readers be achieved in a more positive sense.By discussing the translation of tourism texts under Aesthetics of Reception, this report aims to play a reference role in related research.
