A Report On English Interpreting Of Campus Football Cooperation Project Between Mentougou Education Committee And Wolfsburg

Football can not only improve our physical condition,but also enhance national cultural confidence.Chinese President Xi Jinping attaches great importance to the development of football and stresses that the development and revitalization of football is a part of China dream.Consequently,campus football cooperation projects between China and other countries have been in rapid development,and so has football interpretation.This report is an interpretation practice report,which describes the process of the author’s participation as an interpreter in the second phase of the campus football cooperation project between Mentougou Education Committee and Wolfsburg,which lasted from October 8 to December 8,2019.Guided by the interpretive theory,the report focuses on the interpreting process in the theory,namely,discourse interpretation,de-verbalization and reformulation.Theoretical explanation and football teaching practice demonstration in the training seminar are selected as the analysis object.The critical position of the interpretive theory is predominant.Through adopting superordinate,literal translation and free translation,the author analyzes and solves the problem encountered in the interpreting practice,such as the interpretation of proper nouns,terminologies and training rules,and the lack of content and logic in interpretation as well.After the interpreting,the author collects feedback from the clients and makes an evaluation.The author finds that background knowledge and presentation skills are critical to interpreting.In addition,the accumulation of interpretation theories as well as the interpreter’s physical and mental state also play an important role in the implementation of interpretation practice.It is hoped that this report can provide some reference for the future study of football interpreting.
