English is the most important international language in the world today.For learners,it is of great significance to learn English well.With the development of education,English learning in junior middle school has received more and more attention from educational circles.However,students in Grade 7 are still facing many difficulties in learning English.First of all,the students in Grade 7 have problems in learning vocabulary.The learning of English vocabulary is often accompanied by the process from memorizing to forgetting.Therefore,it is an important content in English learning for teachers to help students memorize vocabulary effectively.Secondly,traditional grammar teaching method is monotonous and boring.But students in Grade7 are active.Learning grammar knowledge only in accordance with rules will lead to inefficient learning and undermine the confidence of students in learning English.English Curriculum Standards for Compulsory Education emphasizes that English courses should undertake the task of cultivating students’ English learning ability and developing innovation capability.And teachers should inspire the students’ interest of English learning.Therefore,how to explain grammar knowledge in a logical and interesting way to make students in Grade 7 learn efficiently has become a difficult point in English teaching.The author adopts chants in English class in order to simplify the complicated contents.This helps learners reduce the degree of difficulty and improve the learning effect.Based on the practical teaching experience,this paper discusses the influence of chants in teaching on students’ English learning in Grade 7.Based on the humanistic learning theory,this paper attaches importance to the inner development of students,aims at stimulating their learning enthusiasm and promotes their independent learning.In order to help the students learn with joy,teachers strive to create a relaxing teaching environment.In practical teaching,teachers should pay attention to the zone of proximal development of students,and patiently guide students to reach the level of possible development.Guided by cognitive science and chunking memory strategy,this paper elucidates that the appropriate teaching methods are good for memorizing information.It provides the theoretical support for chants in English teaching.The author did the research from three aspects: vocabulary teaching,grammar teaching and non-multiple choice checking.This study aims to explore the influence of chants on the English learning of Grade 7 students as the main tool to conduct a three-month tracking survey on 80 Grade 7 students in a middle school in Urumqi.The main research methods are educational experiment method and questionnaire survey method.The author collected six test scores and one final exam of two classes for comparative analysis.The experimental results show that the scores of the experimental class are higher than those of the control class.This data was collected by the self-made questionnaire and analyzed by the software SPSS.The results show that there is a significant difference between the pre-and post-test of the questionnaire,and the post-test is higher than the pre-test.It shows that the teaching effect of chant is significant.Through the research,It is found that the chant teaching has a positive effect on the English learning of Grade 7 students.First,chants used in memorizing is under the condition of students’ understanding of the basic knowledge.Then learners summarize and classify the memory material,and rewrite it into a simple form with readability.Secondly,chants are helpful for students to understand and use the knowledge of vocabulary and grammar,which leads to a better teaching effect.Chants is helpful for students to master the key points and difficult points of grammar.Thirdly,chants help students to master the skills of tests,especially the non-multiple choice questions.The students in Grade 7 are not good at comprehensive use of language.Chants can help the students to check the answers again and improve the accuracy of the non-multiple choices.The author believes that this study has a certain practical value for improving the effect of English teaching on Grade 7.Chants enhance students’ confidence in learning English,especially for students with weak foundation.This kind of teaching method is helpful to improve students’ scores and enhance their initiative in learning English.Finally,chant is an auxiliary means of English teaching instead of the main content of teaching.Teachers should use chants in teaching at the right time.
