As one of the three major elements of language,vocabulary is the basis of language learning.For art students,the mastery of vocabulary and the ability of use vocabulary affect the development of students’ comprehensive language ability.However,many students invest a great lot of time in learning English vocabulary,but the effect is little.The new curriculum standard has greatly improved the requirement of English vocabulary,and the lack of vocabulary has become a prominent problem for senior high school art students in learning English.If the words can’t be remembered or be remembered accurately,it will directly affect not only the use,but also their interest in learning and English score in college entrance examination,thus affecting their future.Researches have shown that the reason why students lack of vocabulary in English learning is the lack of vocabulary learning strategy knowledge.Therefore,to study the use of vocabulary learning strategies of art students in Senior High School,to guide students to learn and use English vocabulary learning strategies,to improve their ability to use English vocabulary learning strategies,and finally to achieve self-regulated learning in a real sense,therefore,it is very important to reverse the difficult situation of English vocabulary learning for art students.In view of the above situation,the survey mainly focuses on the English vocabulary learning situation and the use of vocabulary learning cognitive strategies by art students in Grade One NO.6 Senior High School in Xilinhot.In this study,93 art students from two art classes in Grade One of senior high school were investigated with a questionnaire.The purpose is to solve the following three problems:(1)What cognitive strategies do art students use most / least in theirvocabulary learning?(2)Do students with high scores and low scores use the same cognitive strategies?(3)What caused these problems,and how to solve these problems?The structure of this paper is as follows:The foreword introduces the reasons,research methods and the structure of this paper.The first chapter is introduction.The research background,the purpose and the significance of this investigation report and the urgency of the research on vocabulary learning strategies for art students in Senior High School are elaborated.The second chapter is literature review.It includes the definition of learning strategies,the classification of learning strategies,the meaning and classification of vocabulary learning cognitive strategies,and the research results of vocabulary learning cognitive strategies at home and abroad.The third chapter is the investigation and design.The purpose,object,content,tools and data collection and analysis of the investigation are introduced.The fourth chapter is the results and analysis.This paper describes the use of cognitive strategies in English vocabulary learning of art students in grade one of senior high school.In addition,a comparative analysis was made on the use of cognitive strategies in vocabulary learning between high-achievers and low-achievers.The fifth chapter is the conclusion and enlightenment.Giving advice on the art students in senior high school on vocabulary learning,as well as the teachers’ vocabulary teaching.The limitations of this study andsuggestions for further research are also included.This study attempts to find out the causes of their vocabulary learning difficulties through the survey and study of English vocabulary learning strategies of senior high school art students.From the perspective of learning strategies to explore the causes of the difficulties the students’ vocabulary learning vocabulary of art students,in order to effectively solve the problems they face in learning English vocabulary more,so as to enable students to learn how to learn English vocabulary,and to promote their English learning interest.By studying the strategies used in the vocabulary learning of art students,teachers and students can help themselves find the problems of vocabulary learning,so as to avoid the time-consuming and inefficient learning.Through how to solve the problem of inefficient vocabulary learning,the art students can master the efficient strategies of English learning and lay a solid foundation for their life-long learning and sustainable development.
