| English is the main subject of compulsory education.The rapid development of English education and the further deepening of English reform put forward higher requirements for rural junior middle school English teachers.Only by constantly improving their professional quality and English teaching ability,English teachers can adapt to the requirements of basic English reform and meet the needs of the development of the times.Therefore,the research on the current situation of rural junior high school English teachers’ professional quality can provide feasible suggestions for improving the quality of rural junior high school English teaching.This paper aims to how to improve the professional quality of rural junior high school English teachers.The author refers to a large number of literature in order to understand the theory of English teachers’ professional quality and analyze the current situation of rural junior high school English teachers’ professional quality.The author chooses the English teachers’ professional quality in rural junior high school of Q County to carry out investigation and research,and adopts various methods such as questionnaire survey,interview,classroom observation.Among them,102 valid questionnaires were received,10 English teachers were selected as the interviewees,and the classroom observations of three English teachers were analyzed.Based on the survey data,combined with the requirements of teacher professionalization theory and lifelong education theory for English teacher education,and from three dimensions of English professional knowledge,English teaching and research ability,and teachers’ professional attitude,this paper analyzes the current situation of rural junior high school English teachers’ professional quality which including the following five aspects: the number of new English teachers is increasing year by year,the professional attitude is becoming more and more correct;English professional knowledge and teaching ability are urgent to improve;the rural junior high school English teachers lack the carrier to improve their professional quality;the junior high school English teachers’ teaching motivation is insufficient;the English teachers’ scientific research consciousness and innovation ability are not strong.From the three dimensions of teachers,schools and education departments,this paper analyzes the causes of the problems: English teachers’ professional knowledge is not updated and lacks innovation;teachers’ coordination ability of "work" and "learning" is improper;rural junior high school English teachers’ "learning" and "teaching" are inconsistent;education departments ignore English Teaching in rural areas.Based on the analysis of the current situation and the reasons of rural junior high school English teachers’ professional quality,this paper summarizes the effective measures to improve the professional quality of rural junior middle school English teachers from many aspects.On the one hand,the education department should increase technical input to help improve the professional quality of rural junior high school English teachers,on the other hand,it should implement the "county management and employment" system,which is guaranteed from the technical and policy aspects.Schools should strive to create a better development environment for English teachers,coordinate their work and learning,and strengthen target management for English teachers.English teachers should enhance their awareness of self-improvement and improve their professional quality from three aspects.The first is to improve the ability of English classroom design and innovation;the second is to strengthen reflection and learning to achieve self-improvement of professional quality;the third is to improve their own professional knowledge and teaching ability. |
