Since the late Qing Dynasty, with the change of social system, the introduction of modern western enterprise theory and the popularization of the thought of saving the country by industry,a group of outstanding national enterprises emerged in China. As an important industry related to the national economy and people’s livelihood, cotton textile industry naturally attracted a large number of private capital investment from: Rong family,Guo family,Zhangjian of Tongzhou and other non-governmental consortiums that were very important at that time.Shenxin,Yong’an,Dasheng and other enterprises are also local benchmarking national enterprises that can compete with foreign investors. How these enterprises set up their own businesses in that environment and what factors will affect them are the themes we pay close attention to.The purpose of this paper is to analyze the entrepreneurial elements and models of modern Chinese national enterprises,to study how enterprises integrate their activities and strategic behaviors,to achieve the optimization of entrepreneurial performance, and to try to inspire the entrepreneurial activities of contemporary enterprises.Based on this, this paper will centered on the three national cotton textile enterprises,Dasheng,Shenxin and Yong’an,which started their businesses in different periods, and take Timmons entrepreneurial model as the analysis framework to discuss the following issues: firstly, how did those modern national cotton textile enterprises identify and grasp the entrepreneurial opportunities;secondly, what did the management of the entrepreneurial team like;thirdly, how did the enterprises allocate scarce entrepreneurial resources;fourthly, how to build a typical business model of cotton textile. For the above research problems,we firstly use the data of the newly established enterprises obtained from the press records and surveys of the Republic of China to realize the overall cognition of the modern cotton textile enterprises’ entrepreneurship.Secondly,by using the methods of history and management, this paper analyzes the three modern cotton textile enterprises’ entrepreneurial opportunity identification mode, entrepreneurial team management mode and entrepreneurial resource allocation mode. Finally, the paper summarizes the typical entrepreneurial model. This paper finds that: first, according to the different entrepreneurial environment, the opportunity search process of cotton textile enterprises can bedivided into two types: policy-oriented and market-oriented.The evaluation of entrepreneurial opportunity can be divided into four categories: market environment, financial indicators, potential risks and entrepreneurs’ personal feelings. The emergence of entrepreneurial opportunities inclines the entrepreneurial model to the side of opportunities.Enterprises need to balance this situation by using management teams and allocating scarce resources.Second, the entrepreneurial team of those enterprises has the characteristics of clear core, close relationship among team members, and pursuit of team heterogeneity. The governance methods of entrepreneurial team can be summarized into two types: contractual governance and pan family governance. The management of entrepreneurial team improves the extremely unbalanced situation of Timmons model at the beginning of entrepreneurship, and paves the way for resource patching of enterprises.Third, through the use of existing resources, resource adaptation and resource reconstruction, enterprises creatively accumulated the relevant resources needed for entrepreneurship, broke the resource constraints, and found new entrepreneurial opportunities,so that Timmons model returned to balance, and enterprises successfully completed the entrepreneurial stage.
