Olga Tokarczuk Novel’s Narrative Strategy Research

Olga Tokarczuk is an important literary star in the contemporary Polish literary world.After winning the Nobel Prize for Literature in 2018,Olga Tokarczuk has been highly concerned by the international literary world.In her novels,women’s tenderness and growth experience are skillfully combined with her strange imagination,making it a veritable "Poet with both poetic sentiment and humor".This is highlighted in the author’s subtle narrative strategy and rich multiple works connotation.Based on the four novels of Olga Tokarczuk,Primeval and Other Times,Dom dzienny,dom nocny,Flights and Opowiadania bizarne,this paper discusses the narrative strategy and comprehensive utility of his novels in narrative time and space,cross-border narration,perspective change and fragmentation.This paper consists of introduction,text and conclusion.In addition to the introduction and conclusion,the main body mainly discusses the narrative strategy of Tokarczuk’s novels from three perspectives,which is divided into three chapters.The first chapter expounds the narrative strategy of time and space in Tokarczuk’s novels.Focusing on the overall concept of time and space in Tokarczuk’s novels,this paper explores how Tokarczuk effectively uses the characteristics of time and space to show the social changes and people’s livelihood in Poland in the disordered relationship between time and space from two aspects:the narrative way of jumping time and space and the narrative skills of reversing time and space.The second chapter analyzes the cross-border narrative strategy of Tokarczuk’s novels.From the perspective of crossover,this paper analyzes the author’s attitude towards the times and individuals by blurring the rigid boundaries of things,vividly showing the clear relationship between different nations,self and others.The third chapter discusses the change of perspective and the characteristics of fragmented narration in Tokarczuk’s novels.The author takes the changeable narrative perspective and the fragmented plot as the breakthrough point to skillfully reproduce the absurd and realistic nature of human society.Through the interpretation of the narrative strategies of Tokarczuk’s novels,this article intends to reveal the writer’s bold innovations in style and narrative strategies,as well as reviewing the unique historical culture of Poland,to show women’s tenacity and independence and the real life of contemporary people.The author has a clear understanding of human destiny,nature,technology.
