"Expressway to Chinese "is a newly published and promoted popular short-term Chinese language training textbook by Beijing Language and Culture University Press.The textbook not only emphasizes the use of tasks as the carrier to accomplish the corresponding teaching objectives,but also attaches great importance to communicative interaction and task-driven.In this paper,we analyze and study the "tasks" in the textbook by using the literature and statistical methods,The main innovation of this paper is that the topic is novel and there is no research result in the academic field.The main findings of this paper are as follows.First,from a general point of view,the selection of tasks in the textbook is reasonable.The level of the tasks is mainly elementary,with some intermediate tasks,and the ratio is moderate.The content of the tasks is moderately difficult and easy,and although there is a small amount of over-content,it does not affect the completion of the tasks.The topics set in the tasks are realistic and the language is close to daily life,which is conducive to the cultivation of students’ communicative skills.The tasks are rich in types and have a tendency to give priority to the development of listening and speaking skills.However,the communicative scope of the tasks is not broad enough and the distribution is not balanced.Secondly,the textbook mainly uses a combination of "controlled-input tasks" and"free-output tasks",and "discrete tasks" and "coherent tasks".The textbooks are organized in a combination of "controlled input tasks" and "free output tasks","discrete tasks" and "coherent tasks".In addition,the main principles of task setting are authenticity,purpose,interactivity,progressiveness and operative.Third,we summarize the strengths and weaknesses of the textbook’s "tasks" and propose suggestions for improvement,such as choosing the scope of tasks,controlling the proportion of tasks,and enriching the format of text materials.In conclusion,we believe that the "tasks" in the elementary textbook of"Expressway to Chinese" are basically in line with the concept of "task-based" writing,and the tasks in the textbook can effectively drive classroom teaching and promote language acquisition.
