In this paper we are researching into the arrangement ofcompliments in elementary reading-writing textbook, and take《Chinese Course》(the first grade)that is commonly used by universitiesas example. The main contents include comparing and analyzing theexplanation of compliments、example sentence and design of exercisesabout compliments, compared with the mathematics curriculum, andanalyzes students’ compliments study through test, finally inspectingthe set of teaching materials from the angle of teachers and learnersrespectively. We hope it can provide some reference and suggestionfor teaching material compilation and the teaching of Chinese as aforeign language. The thesis divides into five chapters.Chapter1is the preface part. It dwells on the purpose and worth ofthe selected topic, the current research situation at home and abroad,the theories and methods that are used in the thesis, and the researchobject、the source of language materials.Chapter2analyzes the compliments in《Chinese Course》(the firstgrade) systematically. The main content includes every kind ofcompliment in the textbook, such as the explanation of compliments,example sentence and design of exercises about compliments. Finally itstudies the problems existing in the teaching material about thearrangement of compliments.Chapter3analyzes students’ compliments study through test tin theset of teaching material. We adopt quantitative approach, then makea contrast with teaching materials according to the data and analyze the biased error so that we can make some instructional strategy toreduce the biased error.Chapter4is basically inspecting the arrangement and explanationabout compliments in the set of teaching materials from the angle ofteachers and learners respectively. It offers several suggestions for thearrangement of compliments in teaching materials and gives someadvice for teacher’s class teaching.Chapter5is the conclusion part. It summarizes the thesis, and pointsout the expecting directions of in-depth studying in the future.
