Report On E-C Translation Of Environmental Ranking For Canada And The OECD,2nd Edition

The original text of this translation report comes from a report published by the Canadian think tank Fraser Institute,The Second Edition of the Environmental Quality Rankings of Canada and the OECD.The report includes environmental quality research programs,environmental index calculation methods,and comparisons of environmental quality between Canada and the OECD.Due to the great harm caused by environmental pollution,countries all over the world have to spend a lot of manpower,material and financial resources to restore the ecological pollution caused by economic development.So countries are paying more and more attention to environmental protection and sustainable development.The translation aims to help professionals in related fields in China understand the environmental quality evaluation scheme and the environmental status in foreign countries,which has a certain significance for improving the environmental quality of our country.This report mainly introduces the background and significance of the translation project,briefly describes the translation process,analyzes the key and difficult points in the translation,describes the solutions’ and summarizes the whole translation at last.The text is a scientific text with strong logic’ many formulas,data and professional vocabulary.Based on the characteristics of vocabulary,syntax and text,the translator introduces the theory of "Function plus Loyalty" proposed by Christiane Nord.Multiple translation methods such as restructuring,splitting,and conversion are used to solve the problems of terminology,acronyms,and passive voice encountered in the translation.Through the translation project,by putting theory into practice,the translator expanded the readership of the original report,explored effective translation strategies and methods for scientific and technological texts,and highlighted the practical significance of the "function+loyalty" translation theory.
