Research On Caizi Peony Pavilion

Caizi Peony Pavilion is a critical edition of the Peony Pavilion by Cheng Qiong and Wu Zhensheng.The book was banned because of its explicit sexual attachment,so that later generations knew little about it.However,his comments on the characters,the interpretation of the connotation of Qu Ci,the comment methods used and the creative ideas embodied have made a certain contribution to the understanding of literary meaning and the enrichment of comment theory.In this paper,Jiang Jurong,Hua Wei’s collation as the research object,combined with previous research results,this book to do further combing,mining.This paper consists of three parts:The first part is the introduction.This paper mainly expounds the significance of topic selection,research content and innovation points,and summarizes the research status and trend of Caizi Peony Pavilion.The second part is the main part of the paper,including four chapters: the first chapter summarizes the two commentators and the origin of their comments.First of all,this paper introduces their family life,personal writings,personal talents,and the relationship between the critics’ poems and opera works and the Caizi Peony Pavilion.Then,based on the preface of the two critics,this paper explains their creative motivation and the process of criticism.The second chapter analyzes comments on the characters.Based on the fact that the comments on the characters in the book are mostly scattered in the explanation of words and poems,this paper mainly discusses the comments on Liu Mengmei,Du Liniang,Chunxiang,Du Bao,Chen Zuiliang and Zhen Mu according to the proportion of comments;at the same time,it sums up the characteristics of the comments on the characters,and compares and explains the characteristics and tendency of character comment in the Caizi Peony Pavilion.The third chapter discusses the evaluation method and commenting function.It is mainly divided into direct comment,literature and history comment and poetry comment: direct comment reveals Tang Xianzu’s creative ideas to the point;literature and history comment often excavates Tang Xianzu’s hidden subtle meaning of words through discussion and reasoning,and illustrates his own opinions from time to time;poetry comment focuses on the development of the characters’ emotions in traditional opera,constructs the situation and creates the atmosphere to help readers enter the inner world of the characters in the Peony Pavilion.The fourth chapter explores the ideological tendency.The book was published in the Qing Dynasty when the style of study changed from seeking erudition to seeking truth.It clearly shows the characteristics of advocating truth and seeking erudition.The book quotes a large number of materials,pursues the new and pursues the unusual,and expresses many shocking opinions,which shows a rich and frivolous side.On the other hand,the rich textual research of historical facts focuses on the universal human feelings in the Peony Pavilion,explains Tang Xianzu’s theory of supreme feelings,and shows that when the emotion is true to a certain extent,the plot of love in a dream may occur,and highly praises the sincere emotion,which reflects the aesthetic tendency of seeking truth and reality.The third part is the conclusion.In this part,the research results of this paper are summarized,and the shortcomings of the research are reflected.
