| The “Compulsory Education English Curriculum Standards"(2011Edition)stipulates the second level in English writing upon graduation from primary schools.In the “China Standards of English”,it is also pointed out that the writing ability of the upper grades of primary school students must reach the second level which clearly emphasizes the importance of the cultivation of students ’ writing ability in English.From them,it is can been seen that writing skills in English is becoming more and more important at the English teaching stage of the upper grades of primary schools.However,after the observation of English classrooms of upper grades in primary schools for nearly one semester,the author found the following common problems: difficulties in beginning,irregular writing,lack of vocabulary,mistaken use in morphology,syntactic confusion,textual errors and so on.Therefore,to cultivate students’ writing ability and explore the teaching of English writing in primary schools is necessary(especially in senior grades).“China Standards of English”(hereinafter “scale”)is on the strength of“ Compulsory Education English Curriculum Standards(2011 Edition)” and takes “Curriculum”demand refining,detailed and reification,imanipuility in the conformability it plays the vital referred effect to teacher educated,board to death and students learning.This research combining with the “scale” is based on the theories of language input-output,using the methods including observations of English classrooms,interview surveys and text analysis,focusing on he theme of teaching English writing in the upper grades of primary schools,to find existing problems,reveal reasons of these problems,and then propose countermeasures to improve the quality of English writing teaching in the upper grades of primary schools.Firstly,this article analyzes the current situation of English writing teaching in the upper grades of primary schools based on the combination of requirements stipulated in the “China Standards of English”.On one hand,the communications with English teachers can make us understand the current situations of English writing teaching from the perspective of teachers,and entering English classrooms gives us the opportunity to explore the current situation of writing teaching;on the other hand,the method of text analysis aiming to classify and analyse the errors in the writing texts of the upper grades of primary schools let us understand the current situations of English writing teaching from the perspective of students.Through the research conducted by the above several methods,we understand the current situation of the English writing teaching in the upper grade of the Primary School S in Huaibei : teachers don’t attach enough attention to English writing teaching and lack of effective writing guidance for students,students ’ irregular writing which lead students can’t express their thoughts when writing,too repetitive and simple description language,writing story words,frequent grammatical errors and so on.Secondly,this article explores the subjective and objective reasons for the problems in the teaching of English writing in primary schools through the analysis of existing problems in the English writing teaching in the upper grades of primary schools.Among them,the subjective reasons mainly include two aspects of teachers and students,while the objective reasons mainly include three aspects which are the policy propaganda and guidance,curriculum and teaching materials,and homeschool coordination.Finally,this article puts forward countermeasure suggestions to improve the teaching quality of English writing in the upper grades of primary schools from four aspects including “ teachers ’ teaching,students ’ learning,innovation of schools,and the support of family”according to these problems and reasons.The innovation point of this article locates in the exploration of the application of the competency framework in the “China Standards of English” to the English writing teaching in primary schools.However,due to the influence of practical factors such as my theoretical level and limited sampling scale,this study has certain limitations.For example,this research only analyses one primary school in Huaibei while the teaching level of each primary school is different,which leads regional limitations.In the next,it will focus on primary English composition teaching to develop more deep-going and more extensive discussion,for the sake of availing on new era primary English education high quality development. |
