Abstract/Summary:
In today’s society,English education has received more widespread attention.The quality of primary school English teaching is closely related to the English proficiency of students.With the gradual development of English,various problems have emerged,especially the problems in the teaching of English listening in primary schools have become more prominent.The learning of listening and speaking in English is complementary,and students can’t listen well to a certain extent and can’t speak well.Therefore,it is necessary to conduct research on the teaching of English listening.The thesis is divided into five parts.The first part is the research significance of primary school English listening teaching.It summarizes the relevant research at home and abroad,expounds the research methods and research questions,explains the theoretical basis used in this thesis,and discusses the thesis.Important concepts are defined.The second and third parts are about the investigation and analysis of English listening teaching in primary schools and some problems in the teaching of English listening in higher grades of primary schools.This research uses questionnaires to students and interviews with teachers.From the survey,it is found that students and teachers have the following problems:students have English listening interests,strategies,habits,and factors that affect students English listening;teacher’s problems are as follows: 1.Ignore the cultivation of English listening skills;2.Inappropriate English listening training design;3.Lack of innovative English listening teaching methods;4.Single English listening teaching evaluation.The fourth part is to analyze the reasons for the problems in primary school English listening teaching from the perspective of students and teachers.Student factors: 1.Not bad English listening habits;2.Lack of appropriate listening strategies;3.Lack of passion for learning English listening;4.There are psychological barriers;5.Weak basic knowledge of English.Teacher factors: 1.Lagging listening teaching concept;2.Inadequate teaching preparation;3 backward English listening teaching methods;4.Lack of psychological attention to students;5.Lack of diversified listening teaching evaluation;6.Not paying attention Selection of listening materials.The fifth part puts forward corresponding improvement strategies from the students themselves and teachers.For students: 1.Develop good English listening habits and awareness;2.Strengthen the training of listening learning strategies;3.Increase interest in English listening;4.Develop good psychological quality;5.Consolidate basic knowledge of English.On the part of teachers: 1.Pay attention to the main status of students;2.Use multimedia to carry out English listening training;3.Pay attention to the design of listening training;4.Optimize the teaching methods of English listening;5.Select appropriate listening materials.The fifth part is conclusion and reflection.
